Crossness Pumping Station is a Grade I Listed building and features some of the most spectacular ornamental Victorian cast ironwork.
Paye were instructed to complete works which included external façade cleaning and masonry repairs, moulded and carved stone replacement, gauged brick replacement. The contract included extensive roofing repair and alteration, structural timber and steel repair, new slates, roof lights, lead work and cast-iron gutters.
Our team also conducted internal refurbishment of masonry, iron work, forming new doorways, re-decoration and new timber doors and windows. Specialist masonry works included replacement of handmade imperial brickwork and carved and moulded stonework to numerous locations across the various buildings on the site.
Structural openings were formed to create new door openings requiring careful toothing in of new brickwork. Original salvaged and new slates were used to repair the extensive roof areas which also included repair and replacement of the glazed roof lights.
