We want our Apprentices to learn about the history of the building before taking on supervised practical development underpinned with study at college on a day/block release basis.
You will need a good command of Maths and English and be prepared to take on additional study, some of which may be in your own time. An eagerness to learn both practical and academic skills is essential. You will need good attention to detail.
We will help you obtain your CSCS card and provide structured training to help you develop your skills, knowledge and experience through the work you will do.
• Assisting with the restoration of prestigious historic buildings and landmarks.
• Assisting with repairing and restoring buildings and monuments carving or repairing statues or memorials.
• Assisting with making and fitting stonework window frames, archways and ornamental features.
• Assisting with replacing broken or missing masonry units in walls or floors
• Removing vegetation
• Quality control
• Organising materials, plant and resources
You will learn about the many other facets of conservation masonry works, including but not limited to:
• Deep tamping • Grouting • Rebuilding • Galletting • Brickwork repairs • Stone indenting • Stone repairs
