Masons Masterclass and Tour

A brilliant day in sunny Colchester, Britain’s first Roman city, where as Principal Contractor, our skilled team have been carrying out masonry works and extensive roof repairs to Colchester Castle for Colchester City Council.

Our Masterclass team hosted another important stonemasonry masterclass and a behind the scenes tour of our works, this time for students from The Trinity School. The session is a great forum for students to learn about traditional stonemasonry and restoration techniques with a rare opportunity to get hands-on with tools and stone. Our masterclass sessions are designed to inspire young people into the trade through apprenticeships by giving a real insight into the skills and craftsmanship involved in the trade.

As part of the tour, we were able to also talk through the range of roles contributing to the work being undertaken at Colchester Castle, from architects and surveyors to scaffolders and masons. It was another fantastic chance to share our knowledge with the next generation!
