With financial support from the Olympic Games situated within the Borough, High Street 2012 was a programme of urban regeneration along the A11/A118 in East London. Works were completed from Aldgate in Tower Hamlets to Stratford in Newham and were aimed to improve the quality of the environment and public realm along that corridor.
Paye were successfully awarded the Historic Buildings Conservation Scheme, which comprised a variety of façade improvements to a range of buildings. The work included; new shop fronts, fascias, awnings, reinstatement of architectural features, brickwork/masonry/render repairs and cleaning, repair/reinstatement of sash windows, roofs and chimneys.
The buildings remained in use throughout the life of the project allowing business and residents to work and live without disruption.
Situated within a vibrant multi-cultural community, the project was divided into eight phases with 5 to 61 buildings within each phase for which an overall budget in excess of £5 million was provided.
