Following completion of Paye’s contract to reconfigure the original bland Portland stone wall and steps the new memorial completely transformed the original configuration of the environment to encourage interaction with the space whilst providing increased pedestrian traffic between the Mall and Lower Regent Street.
The contract required the salvage and re-use of original Portland stone together with new stone selected following a strict sampling process. New hand carved coats of arms were produced along with hand cut lettering and intricate mouldings
New lighting, paving and drainage was also installed as part of the main contract.
