85 The Strand is a dominant and prestigious period building providing office space and retail shops which open onto The Strand in London’s West End.

As Principal Contractors, Paye were employed to undertake a comprehensive repair and refurbishment contract of the masonry façades and slate mansard roofs.

In collaboration with the design team and local authorities, listed building consent was granted for the introduction of new lead capping to all cornice sky surfaces, improving water management and protecting masonry.

Further associated works included DOFF cleaning, extensive Portland stone conservation, slate and lead repair and full decoration of existing windows and doors.

The contract included both North and South elevations undertaken concurrently.

The building remained occupied and in use through out the life of the contract.
