Paye’s involvement with The Ned commenced at the start of the project, providing the client with commercial and technical advice regarding the structural condition of the exterior of the building and how the interiors could be restored to their former glory.

This Grade I listed building was originally designed by Sir Edwin ‘Ned’ Lutyens in 1939. The redevelopment and renovation transformed 27–35 Poultry into a stylish venue providing contemporary hotel accommodation, restaurants, bars and extensive leisure and spa facilities.

The retained interiors have been sensitively restored to emphasise Lutyens’ architectural trademarks such as the stone spiral, marble finishes and numerous marble staircases.

Work included restoring the impressive travertine lobbied bank vaults, made famous in the 1964 James Bond film, Goldfinger and the extensive marble clad banking hall on the ground floor. The high standard of marble restoration has resulted in a seamless transformation for a banking hall to a 5* Hotel.
