The King’s School located within the Precincts of Canterbury Cathedral; a UNESCO World Heritage Site can trace its history back to AD 597.
As part of a masterplan to reconfigure the existing facilities a new Science faculty building was required. Due to the importance of the historical setting the building needed to be in keeping with the surrounding listed buildings and was designed with this in mind .
Paye were employed to source and hand lay random snapped flint and flint quoins in lime mortar against a brick backing structure together with Portland stone window surrounds.
A square knapped feature course has been incorporated across the façade which is reflected in the historic flintwork found within and outside the Precincts walls.
