With the temporary roof in place and removal of original roof coverings completed the work to repair exposed timber and undertake alterations to the roof structure could begin. The decorative stucco rendered facades were constructed along with ornately carved and moulded woodwork used for columns and cornices. The original paintwork was carefully removed to allow intricate repairs to take place and provide a sound substrate for the new decoration.

A steady hand was needed for the intricate re-painting of the Robert Adam library ceiling. The stucco rendered facades were stripped of paint, repaired using traditional techniques and materials and re-decorated.

The re-mastered library is a stunning transformation and a testament to the skill and dedication of the crafts people employed by PAYE.
